Grand Banks Yachts Sets 2005 Launch for New 59 Aleutian RP
Latest addition to expanding Aleutian series is already making waves with elegant new design.

Seattle, WA – January 4, 2005 – In the wake of a successful debut for its 70 Aleutian CP at the 2004 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, Grand Banks Yachts has announced a new Aleutian model to launch in Fall 2005. The 59 Aleutian RP joins the 70CP and 64RP in the distinctive series of raised pilothouse yachts from Grand Banks.

Like these other models, the 59RP offers classic nautical features like the Portuguese flybridge, fine teak interiors and solid blue water cruising capabilities. It also uses the same proven hull construction methods, with solid hand-laid fiberglass below the waterline and close cell foam cored construction above the boot stripe.

The new 59RP brings lots of changes, too, starting with a new design by renowned naval architects Sparkman and Stephens. Working with Grand Banks, S&S developed a modified deep-V hull that was tank tested and optimized to a speed range in excess of 25 knots.

"Both Grand Banks and Sparkman and Stephens have long and distinguished histories of building yachts of exceptional quality, seaworthiness, strength and comfort," said Greg Matzat, Chief Naval Architect and head of the S&S team for the 59RP. "The result is a truly stunning new yacht, one that will perform surely at sea."

Inside, the well-appointed interiors have been refreshed and restyled by Design Unlimited, well known for their work with luxury yacht manufacturers. "The design philosophy was to produce a slightly modernized look to complement the updated exterior, while maintaining the understated elegance and practicality for which Grand Banks are famous," said DU's Julie Tucker. "The cleverly detailed teak joinery is complimented by soft bulkhead panels, luxurious fabrics and high quality fixtures and fittings."

The split-level upper deck features a bright and spacious salon, with a well-equipped galley, dining area, and twin help positions with complete visibility aft. The lower deck includes two double staterooms with en-suite facilities, a twin cabin, and a separate day head.

Even before the official announcement of this new launch, word of the 59RP had spread. "The reputation of the Aleutian Series is so strong, we've already sold well into our production schedule for new hulls," said Bob Livingston, Grand Banks chairman and CEO. "With this new design, along with its size and performance capabilities, I believe the 59RP will be extremely popular in the U.S. and around the world. I couldn't be more excited for this launch."
