Grand Banks Yachts Launches First Eastbay Designed Specifically for European Market
New 54 Eastbay SXe includes new features popular with boaters around the Mediterranean

54SXe Press Kit Seattle, WA – September 21, 2004 – Grand Banks yachts are a common sight in harbors and waterways throughout Europe. But at the 2004 Genoa International Boat Show, October 9-17, visitors will get their first glimpse at something new and different from this esteemed builder: the first Grand Banks designed and built specifically for European boaters.

The 54 Eastbay SXe - the "e" designates this special European version of the boat - is based on the popular Grand Banks 54SX express cruiser launched in 2002. Several new features, however, mark the 54SXe as distinctly different from the original model.

These features include an aft deck with raised seating rather than the traditional cockpit design which steps up to the salon. This modification makes room for the new crew cabin and accommodations underneath, as well as for a retractable gangway for stern-to moorage common in European ports.

Other new features give a nod to the sun-splashed qualities of boating around the Mediterranean. An electro-pneumatic sunroof opens above the salon at the push of a button, while a sunpad has been added to the forward roof deck area. A hydraulic swim platform, along with aft-deck grill, sink, and refrigerator are some of the other recreation-minded additions to the new 54SXe.

The 54SXe shares the same Hunt-designed deep-V hull as its original counterpart, giving the vessel an incredible combination of performance and stability when cruising from port to port.

"We're very excited to design and build a yacht with the specific needs of European boaters in mind," said Bob Livingston, Grand Banks Chairman and CEO. "By combining these new features with the quality and craftsmanship that mark our yachts the world over, we've created a new model that also exemplifies the Grand Banks tradition."

Grand Banks Yachts, Ltd. has been building boats since 1957 and is recognized worldwide for its long-standing tradition of superior craftsmanship. The legendary Grand Banks® product line includes the Heritage, Eastbay, and Aleutian series yachts, each highly acclaimed for their distinctive good looks, stately design, elegant interiors and long-range performance capability. Grand Banks continues to be the choice of discerning yachtsmen throughout the world.
