Each new day seems busier than the last as teams continue to work on new models at the GB factory – including the 54 Heritage EU. The first 54EU in production marked an important milestone last week: decking, when the hull and deckhouse are joined together during the construction process. Our last update showed photos of each of these parts in layup and coming out of the mold, and since that time quite a lot has happened.

The first 54 Heritage EU makes her international boat show debut this September at the Festival de la Plaisance in Cannes, and other 54s are already scheduled for delivery this year to new buyers. All of which means that production teams at the factory are now in full swing. Work on the hull and deckhouse continue as build-out starts on interior modules, while other teams ready for engine and systems installations.

At left is a photo of a brand new 53 Aleutian RP taken during a factory sea trial before finishing, inspection and shipping to her new owner in the Pacific Northwest. As you can see, this 53RP sports a beautiful Flag Blue hull – a gelcoat color common among the many Eastbay yachts we've built but new to the 53RP. Interested? Grand Banks just took the first order its newest addition to the Eastbay Series, the 55FB. "This is the first flybridge model since the new styling evolution of the Eastbay," said Neil McCurdy, VP of Worldwide Sales and Service. "The fact that this 55FB has already sold is a tremendous vote of confidence in the design. With all the space, luxury, and proven performance of the 55 Eastbay - PLUS a flying bridge - we're expecting great things to come."

With 20-knot winds and 5-foot waves making things rough in the waters off Ft. Lauderdale, PassageMaker's John Wooldridge joined GB yacht designer Earl Alfaro for a spirited sea trial aboard the new 53RP. "I was attacking the wave fronts at a moderate angle, then steering for better control on the far side, and the 53RP responded very quickly to my course changes," writes Wooldridge in his recent account of the experience.
It's time once again for the world's biggest boat show, one of the best opportunities to take in a wide selection of new models-and a good excuse to escape the stormy weather around the world for Ft. Lauderdale's balmy beaches. Once again, Grand Banks Yachts will host its display at the head of B-Dock in the Bahia Mar Yachting Center. The lineup for 2011 includes the 53 Aleutian RP, 47 Heritage EU, and the Zeus-powered 46 Eastbay SX. See you at the show, October 27-31.
